Q. What does D.A.V. stand for?

A. Disabled American Veterans.

 

Q. Where can I drop off donations?

A. At our store 2627 East University, Des Moines, Iowa.  About 10 blocks west of the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

 

Q. When can I drop off donations?

A. Tuesday through Saturday, from 8 AM to 3 PM.

 

Q. How do I get donations picked up at my house or business?

A. You can call (515-262-4740) or e-mail the Pick Up Service.  For more info, click here.

 

Q. How much does donation pickup cost?

A. Nothing, it is a free service we do for you just for donating.

 

Q. What areas do you pick up donations in?

A.  We pickup donations all around the Des Moines Metro area, just call (262-4740) or e-mail to find out if we pickup in your area.

 

Q. When do you pickup?

A. Our trucks are out Monday through Friday starting at 8 AM and working until all donations for that day are picked up.

 

Q. What items do you take for donations?

A. We are able to use most items that are not considered harmful or dangerous, for a more complete list click here.

 

Q. Who can shop at The D.A.V.?

A. Anyone can enjoy our savings, we are open to the public.

 

Q. When are you open for shopping?

A. Monday thru Saturday from 8AM to 7:30PM

 

Q. How do I get there?

A. Because of road construction, the way is different for everyone, however, we do have a page dedicated to getting you here, just click here.

 

Q. Where do the profits go?

A. All money above and beyond operating expenses go to Disabled American Veterans Chapters 20 and 53.

 

Q. Are there any other D.A.V. Thrift Stores in Des Moines?

A. No, we have one big building to give you the most selection and variety in one place.
